Daniels launches 84 family-sized rental townhomes in Brampton
Daniels, a construction company, has launched 84 three- and four-bedroom rental townhomes in Brampton, built to be rented, not sold. NOW Toronto reported that Daniels president Jake Cohen said rents start around $3,200 and reach about $3,600. About 10% was leased within two weeks; the first residents are due on December 1.
A City of Brampton report found that in 2021 only 13% of purpose-built rentals had three or more bedrooms. Daniels, citing the city, said 26% of Brampton households have five or more residents, the most in the Greater Toronto Area. The Pointer reported that Brampton added only 744 rental units in the past decade, leaving 11,457 in a city of almost 800,000.
Mr Cohen said developers often skip larger rentals because they build for maximum density and many are not comfortable building townhouse-style homes. Whether other developers follow is not yet known.
